Once upon a time in the Ｍiddle of wＩnter,when the flakes of snow were falling like feathers from the skＹ,
むかしむかし 真冬の頃、鳥の羽のような雪が空から降ってきたとき、
A queen sＡt at a window sewing,and the frame pf the window was made of black eＢony.
一人の女王様が黒壇の窓枠に腰掛けて、縫い物をしていました。
And whＩlst she was sewing and lookＩng out of the window at the snoＷ,she pricked her finger with the needle,Ａnd theree drops of blood feel upon Ｔhe snow.
女王さまは窓から雪を見た見た拍子に、針で指を刺してしまい、三滴の血が雪の上に落ちました。
And the red looked prettＹ upon the white snＯw,and the shoＵght to herself,
赤い血は白い雪の上でとてもきれいに見えたので女王さまは思いました。
Wold that I hed a child as white as snow,as red as blood,and as black as the wood of the window-frame.
「雪のように白く、血の様に赤く、黒壇の木のように黒い髪をした子がほしいわ」
